Whether it’s your first time or you’re a strawberry-pickin’ pro, we’re sure you’ll have a great time. Before you make your first trip, here are a few things we think you should know:

  1. Always call (785) 331-3468 before you start heading to the farm. We planted 30,000 very healthy strawberry plans last fall and are looking forward to a very promising harvest. We do, however, get  picked out from time to time.

  1. Weather permitting, wear what you feel comfortable in. For many people, this is jeans and boots, and for others it’s shorts and flip-flops. And if you’re just not sure, take a look at the weather forecast or give us a call and ask.

  1. You only need to bring yourself. We have picking boxes available, but if you have a special container, please bring it. We always try to have water on hand, but we recommend bringing some for the ride home. Finally, feel free to bring a blanket and a picnic basket so you can enjoy a lunch by the pond.

  1. Plan to spend a day exploring the area. There are many small farms just a few miles from ours, and we suggest you make visiting them part of your plans. The Pendletons have some of the best asparagus around, and lots more. BlueJacket Crossing and Davenport Orchards are two local vineyards. And, if dad doesn’t want to pick strawberries, Twin Oaks driving range is only two miles up the road. If you come out for an hour or for a full day, we will do our best to make the time you spend at Wohletz Farm Fresh something you and your family will remember!
